Iain Potter
Iain has worked in the state sector since 1983 and has been Chief Executive of the HSC since 1992.

Iain has been a member of a range of public health advisory groups including the Healthy Eating, Healthy Action external advisory group and the Cancer Control Taskforce. He is a current committee member of MelNet, a network of health professionals interested in melanoma prevention and management and the Public Health Advisory Group of the National Heart Foundation.

 

 

Board

Hayden Wano – Chair
Hayden has over 20 years in senior health management, and is currently Chief Executive of Tui Ora Limited (a Māori development organisation and provider of health services) and General Manager Iwi and Community Midlands Health Network. He has more than 35 years health sector experience in mental health, community and medical services and has held positions as Director of Clinical Services withTaranaki Healthcare Limited and Chairman of Taranaki District Health Board (2000-2007).

Hayden also holds a number of other governance positions, including Chairman TSB Community Trust, Director TSB Bank and is a member of the National Health Board.

He is of Te Atiawa, Taranaki and Ngati Awa Iwi descent.

 

 

Dame Susan Devoy – Deputy Chair
Dame Susan is a former squash champion and is a Dame Commander of the New Zealand Order of Merit. She is the Director of Women Walking Ltd and is currently a board member of the Sustainability Council of New Zealand. She is also a current member and former Chair of the Halberg Trust as well as the former CEO and Chair of Sport Bay of Plenty.

Dame Susan served as a board member of the Auckland District Health Board (2000-2003). She is a trustee of TECT (Tauranga Energy Consumer Trust) and a Board member of UNICEF NZ. She is also the Chairperson of the BNZ partners, Bay of Plenty.

 

 

Maree Leonard
Maree is a Public Health Physician whose last position was as Medical Officer of Health and Medical Advisor to the Primary and Community Division of the Nelson Marlborough District Health Board. She is Chair of the Education Committee of the New Zealand College of Public Health Medicine. Maree also owns a vineyard in Blenheim.

 

 

Fa'amatuainu Tino Periera
Tino is managing Director of Niu Vision Group, a leading Pacific consultancy and communications firm. He is a prominent commentator on Pacific issues, has leadership roles in the Pacific community, and is a former journalist and broadcaster. Tino has wide experience in governance through his leadership and membership of several public sector boards.

 

 

Linda Thompson
Linda is currently the Innovations Project Manager at Te Puna WhanauOra Network Alliance Ltd and is of Whanganui and Tuwharetoa descent. She has previously been on the New Zealand Board of Health’s Māori Health Standing Committee, the Accident Compensation Corporation Māori Advisory Group and the Whanganui District Health Board. Currently she chairs the Advisory Group of for the Māori Nursing Degree Programme at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi and is a Board member of Hauora.Com National Māori Workforce Development Organisation.

Linda was awarded the Queen’s Medal for services to Cervical Screening and Māori Women’s Health in 1990.

 

 

Peter Walls
Peter has been Chief Executive of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra since 2002 and before that served on their board for six years. Before joining NZSO management he had taught in the Music School at Victoria University (where he is now Emeritus Professor of Music).

Peter has always maintained a balance between scholarship and performance, initially as a violinist, and latterly as an orchestral, choral, and opera conductor. He is also an award winning music book writer.
